With over 40 years’ worth of experience in educational public policy, Steve has served as the  Executive Director of the Parents Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) and as Senior Director of the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. In his role as a private school advocate, Steve has assisted private school leaders with accessing over a billion dollars of federally funded services. Steve’s lobbying efforts have encompassed early education vouchers, expansion of special education services, school health funds, out-of-schooltime grants, a dual enrollment program, school transportation services, school meals and snacks, and reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, commonly referred to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In addition, Steve has served on education committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and has recently co-led for the USCCB a national study on Catholic school students’ participation in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)-funded services. Steve also has served as the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Roman Catholic dioceses of Worcester and Fall River (Massachusetts). Before beginning his career in advocacy and Catholic school leadership, Steve served for 12 years as an elected official, including as Mayor of the City of Leominster (MA). Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Lesley University and a Master’s degree from Boston College.
